A Book A popular Thai publishing company, A Book, has created a new promotion with the help of BBDO to introduce new readers to their books. Working with the idea that people are often bored in public places or in transit, A Book gives the reader short stories or book synopses to enjoy. A Book developed five concepts: SMS, stickers, a widget, place mats and best of all, a printout machine reminiscent of queue tickets. Excellent. In theory. In the UAE, customers have to wait until ‘your number is called’ for a number of things: Consumer banks, utilities bill payments and many other other in-person enquiries… So, I was thinking: It might also be a good idea if the print-out matched the expected waiting time, too. Although, I am not sure the words of Tolstoy, several times over, would fit the blank’s print-reel. And then, what if I am so encapsulated I miss my turn?!
